A malleable, open system of interconnecting signals, pulses, and patterns, CHOREOGRAPHS explores the principle of designing sound through sequences of movement. It is a map of perpetual animation, where dynamic forms dance in space, shape, and time.
PATTERNS OF CREATION
With over 150 individually modulatable controls scattered throughout its signal path, CHOREOGRAPHS has movement at its beating heart. Three sample-based oscillators feed into a refined architecture of unique musical devices to form a sound design environment that begins as a polyphonic synthesiser, but augments into a drum machine, drag-and-drop sampler, or granular processor. Movement is injected almost anywhere by selecting from a broad range of modulators including complex LFOs, MIDI CC, fluctuating random signals, and highly versatile step-modulators.
BODIES IN TIME AND SPACE
Like a choreography, a synthesis system is a map of motion, a blueprint of moving parts. CHOREOGRAPHS is an exploration of this idea; an instrument where movement finds its own sonic expression. As the choreographer plots out the movements to be performed, CHOREOGRAPHS sets the parameters for the performance to emerge. It is the meeting of the composition and the performance: half-spontaneous, half-designed.
AN ASSEMBLY OF WAVES
CHOREOGRAPHS is comprised of a large collection of expertly sampled analogue, digital, and modular synthesisers, drum machines, acoustic instruments, and noise sources. Over 400 sample sources cover everything from the warmth of prized analogue classics to the plucks and bursts of modular oscillators; the bell-like twinkles of physically modelled materials to the rompler-like blend of acoustic samples. Included also is a bank of characteristic noise layers – crackling static, buzzing amplifiers, fumbled cloth, scraped membranes, distant bird calls – that layer together to break down generic synth sounds into half-erased, dusty textures.
SONIC CONSTELLATIONS
The CHOREOGRAPHS preset library contains over 650 patches, each of which can be picked apart within the engine. Anything from churning, tangled arpeggios to heavy drones dripping in reverb; buckling swirls of deep bass to cross stitched rhythms of sharp percussion; beastly, cinematic gestures to circular pulses full of kinetic repetition; and angular polyrhythms that twist and turn at will, untethered from the traditional four-bar grid.
HARMONIC GEOMETRY
Central to CHOREOGRAPHS is the ability to complexly modulate pitch. As in modular synthesis, the pitch of a voice can be detached from the triggering of its envelope. This blows wide open a whole new methodology of harmonic sequencing – pitches are continuously and instantaneously updated, allowing for intricately plotted sequences, LFO driven melodies, and uniquely fragmented polyrhythms. Everything feeds into a scale quantiser, intelligently pulling pitches into line, turning chaos into harmony.
CIRCLES IN TIME
The Euclidean sequencer in CHOREOGRAPHS spawns abstract sequences based on geometric divisions and mathematical symmetry. Four lanes of rotating circular triggers play against each other, carving out overlapping polyrhythms with a unique gravitational pull. Each lane sits in its own orbit, creating evolving harmonic progressions, phasing counterpoints, and angular percussive structures.
CURATE + CREATE
CHOREOGRAPHS is as much a sampler as it is a synthesiser. Samples are loaded into the engine by simply dropping them into any of the three voice slots. Once loaded, a myriad of voice shaping parameters can chop them into shape. As well as starting from scratch, dragging a custom sample into any of the 600+ preset patches is an instantaneous way to get something novel out of it. Custom impulse responses can also be loaded by dragging them onto the convolution effect slot, allowing for an infinity of spaces.

LANDFORMS SHIFTING ORCHESTRAL PERSPECTIVES
Landforms offers a bold new approach to working with orchestral samples. Part sampler, part synthesiser, it takes textural recordings inspired by the movements and shapes of nature and reimagines them within a multidimensional sound design environment.
A NEW ORCHESTRAL APPROACH
Landforms is more than just an orchestral sample library. It’s a complex orchestral sound design environment. While conventional orchestral libraries statically reproduce the traditional sounds of the orchestra, Landforms embraces the unique possibilities and idiosyncrasies of working orchestral samples. The focus is not only on the performance of beautiful acoustic textures. It’s about pushing these textures through layers of unique processing to create constantly shifting, abstract collages of sound. It’s rooted in the orchestral domain, but feels simultaneously alien and unique.
EMERGING FROM NATURE
Influenced by the forms and textures of the natural world, articulations were curated and produced with specific compositional intentions. Phrases that fuse together rhythmically and movements that overlap unpredictably to create progressive textural evolutions, mirroring the slowly building intensity of rising tides, the harmonic refractions of rippling water.
The core library comes packed with a deeply versatile collection of factory content, with more than 200 base multisampled articulations split across the families of the orchestra. Strings are broken down into individual trios of bass, cello and violin. The woodwinds section consists of a low ensemble of baritone saxophone, contrabassoon and bass clarinet; a high ensemble of oboe, clarinet and bassoon; and a trio of flutes. Brass consists of a low trombone section and a high ensemble of trumpet and flugelhorn. As well as this, articulations taken from sessions with a solo violinist and flautist are included.
REAL EXPRESSION, REAL EMOTION
Recorded in the rich, warm acoustics of the Wood Room at Real World Studios and utilising ensembles of three players per instrument, the recordings of Landforms are all about emphasising focus and detail while still maintaining the magic of the ensemble.
The intimacies of players’ individual performances were captured using hyper-focussed spot mics, whilst a range of mics placed throughout the Wood Room captured its sophisticated resonances. These can be combined to create a full-spectrum dynamic mix with a deep tonal range.
It’s not for the purists. It’s not about noiseless, robotic performances. It’s about real recordings and real expression. The rawness and detail of performances were intentionally captured in order to retain the authentic character and emotion of the instruments.
ETERNAL FORMATIONS
Landforms includes over 400 sound designed preset patches, each of which can be entirely picked apart and adjusted within the engine. Anything from distorted percussive pulses to obscure electroacoustic textures.
EXPANDING ORCHESTRAL TERRAIN
On top of the orchestral articulations are 50 processed sound sources, each made up from six separately processed layers. These were all created by passing the orchestral recordings through eurorack modules, granular synthesis engines, cassette machines, pedal chains and amplifiers.
MORE THAN JUST SAMPLE PLAYBACK
Take a multi-sampled articulation from the core orchestral library and blur its real world origin beyond recognition. Pull from a diverse combination of creative modules, macro effects, mixing tools, LFOs, physics based modulation and interactive expression controls to create a sound that is uniquely yours.
SPATIAL
Redesign the formation of a sound environment with the spatial mixer. It takes an intuitive and creative approach to the mixing of microphone positions, unlocking new artistic possibilities. Place sound sources within a virtual two dimensional soundstage, immerse them in reverberant space, manipulate them with parameter adjustments, hone in on them to isolate individual players, drift back into the resonances of the recording space, or even send them physically sweeping throughout the space with LFOs or user-defined gestures.
MODULES
Auto-generate complex, scale quantised harmonies to add a new melodic dimension to a performance. Pitch-shift and time-stretch as if a sound is running through a tape machine; carve out intricate step patterns with the arpeggiator; or add complex variation with parameter randomisation. The four flexible input modules create limitless possibilities to transform the interactivity of patches.
EFFECTS
Pick from fifteen uniquely programmed macro effects to push your sound into new sonic territories. Grab an XY pad to quickly refine a sound, or go deeper to fine-tune effects and introduce modulation. Effect randomisation rejigs the entire setup and uncovers happy accidents.
LAYERS
Fuse two uniquely programmable layers into one performable soundscape. Each layer can have its own sound source, its own tuning, its own envelope settings, and its own spatial perspective. Expression controls can be used to interactively modulate between layers.
EXPRESSION
Assignable expression controls open up new ways to design and perform patches. Create controllable dynamic swells that ebb and flow at your fingertips, natural-sounding crossfades between layers, gently evolving filter sweeps, or LFO modulated rhythmic patterns.
OUTPUT
The output effects are the final stage in the signal chain. They include a four band EQ, a characterful tube compressor, an adjustable delay, a reverb switchable between algorithmic and convolution modes, as well as a low fidelity tape warbler.
IMPORT YOUR OWN SAMPLES
Simply drop a sample onto the interface to load it into the Landforms engine. You can load in up to twelve separate samples simultaneously — six for each layer — or you can swap out single elements of the native orchestral patches with your own samples. CYCLES is an innovative and powerful loop manipulation and granular synthesis environment. Through a variety of idiosyncratic and interactive processes pull apart and reconstruct audio instantly into an endless myriad of collaged loops, performable textures, modulating rhythms, generative sequences and playable pads.
REIMAGINE SOUND WITH LOOPS + GRAINS
The LOOPS engine is an audio looper, splicer and synthesiser. Audio is manipulated using an interactive visual timeline that slices the loops into rhythmic segments and re-collages them to create new and irregular formations. Playback parameters facilitate detailed loop manipulation whilst parameter modulation and slice randomisation can create further rhythmic evolution.
The GRAINS engine operates at the micro level, deconstructing the loops into tiny fragments and then rebuilding them into diffuse and amorphous clouds of texture. Grains of variable size, shape, pitch, volume, pan and direction interact to create a multitude of generative soundscapes and gestural movements, with physically simulated modulation introducing natural repetition by animating parameters in cyclical patterns.

CYCLES includes over 450 loop sources divided into six distinct packs, each designed to inspire new and idiosyncratic directions in music creation. Loops can be used straight out of the box in order to generate and develop existing ideas, or alternatively taken purely as source material to be manipulated within the engine into entirely new worlds of sound.
TRANSFORM LOOPS INSTANTLY
CYCLES includes 100 preset engine states to help find inspiration and aid exploration. Each of these transforms the engine into a different set of parameters, settings, and modulation, creating an entirely new world of sound in which a loop or sample is then performable. This produces a huge palette of tens of thousands of unique processed loops and textures, existing anywhere from energetic pulses and plucks to rich cinematic ambiences.
A VAST LIBRARY OF UNIQUE SOUNDS
As well as the source loops, over 150 bespoke pads, textures and sequences are included, each created by taking a single source loop and transfiguring it within the CYCLES engine. The result is a vast library of unique timbres and rhythms full of granularised swarms, lush organic textures and precise cyclical pulses. Patches can be performed interactively, with mod wheel movement creating dynamic rises and evolving cinematic transitions.

在布里斯托尔,SLATE + ASH 构建了合成基础:模拟和数字纹理被设计成管弦乐演奏的催化剂。这些纹理由编曲家 Hugh Brunt(曾与 Thom Yorke、Actress 和 Mica Levi 合作)重新诠释,他一丝不苟地将这些素材转化为适合古典乐团演奏的乐谱。在柏林,Orchestral Tools 在 Teldex 录音棚将重新构思的乐谱赋予生命,并以完整的维度进行录制——在那里,空间本身也成为了乐器的一部分。

合成音色在同一空间内重新放大,并通过Teldex历史悠久的纽曼老式麦克风阵列进行录制,与管弦乐队无缝融合,模糊了声学边界,形成一个统一的声音环境。这些录音被反馈到MIRRORS引擎,成为可供塑造、折射和重新构想的原始素材。
